Two fights are under investigation after students became unruly during two separate incident less than 90 minutes apart inside St. Charles High School on Thursday morning.

The long day for deputies began shortly before 10:15 a.m., when three students were involved in a physical altercation, but while attempting to break up the fight, two staff members at the high school suffered minor injuries.

Then, at around 11:40 a.m. on Thursday, a separate, unrelated fight broke out among four other students, and a third school staffer was assaulted and was injured, along with two of the students involved in the fracas.

The injured students and staff members were all treated by the medical staff at the school.

According to a Charles County Sheriff's Office spokesperson, a School Resource Officer assigned to St. Charles is investigating the two fights and criminal charges are pending against the students involved.

They will also face disciplinary action from the Charles County Public Schools.

Both incidents remain under investigation.
